Apple CarPlay & Android Auto
Most vehicles these days come with some kind of information and entertainment system— simplified to “infotainment” system—attached to a touchscreen menu. While these systems often allow for users to sync their mobile devices to them for features like hands-free calling or streaming Internet radio apps like Pandora, the user interface (UI) may be unfamiliar or difficult to use because they differ from any other UI the owner has used. Enter systems like Apple CarPlay or Android Auto! With this technology, smartphone users can sync their phone to their vehicle and interact with their apps and music in a way that is easy and familiar to them.
Apple CarPlay is, of course, for iPhone users. Once you connect your Apple device to the in-car system, it will display the familiar iPhone screen configuration onto the touchscreen in your vehicle for easier accessibility. Android Auto is the same way, but for Android devices. Through this technology, all of your phone’s apps can be accessed through the touchscreen, including your GPS, your music library, online radio, and a variety of other capabilities. You can even access phone calls and texts with voice commands, so you never have to take your hands off the steering wheel.
Several Honda vehicles now come with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. If you have any questions about these systems, just call us or drop by at Sunny King Honda to experience the capabilities and convenience of these systems for yourself.
