There’s a lot to being a car owner, and one of the hardest things to keep up with is preventive maintenance like oil changes and tire rotations. We’ve put together a list of frequently asked questions to make keeping track easier for you.
If you have any more questions about vehicle maintenance, contact our service department, and we'll help you find the right answer. If you think something's wrong with your car or notice something isn't quite right, don't ignore it. We can help you find the problem and get it fixed before it becomes something bigger!
Oil changes should be done every 3,000 to 7,500 miles in order to make sure it’s fresh enough to properly cool, clean, and lubricate the engine. You can find the correct mileage interval for your vehicle in the owner's manual. Check the oil regularly when the car is turned off and cool and add fluid if necessary.
When should I rotate/balance my tires?
Rotating tires is the best way to make your tires wear evenly. It’s recommended you do this every 5,000 to 8,000 miles depending on what your manual says. Balancing tires evens out the weight on each tire and should be done every 4,000 to 6,000 miles, when any of your tires are replaced, or if you notice symptoms like uneven tread wear and shaking over 40 mph.
When should I check my tire pressure?
Check tire pressure about twice a month in winter and once every couple of months in warmer seasons. You can find the right psi for your tires in your owner’s manual.
How do I know when I should replace brake parts?
If you notice that your vehicle pulls to one side, screeches, or shakes when you brake, this could be a sign of brake problems and you should take your vehicle to your dealership or mechanic as soon as possible to fix the problem.
